Resilience
A Life of Service, Resilience and Dedication
Annie’s story begins in upper Lafayette, just off of Moss Street, where she grew up in a family that instilled in her the values of leadership, education, hard work, and volunteerism. She learned the power of public service from many family members, most notably her mother’s father, a state representative who played a key role in shaping Acadiana’s identity.
She had a front row seat to what entrepreneurship looks like. Watching her father’s parents establish and grow family businesses, as well as her mother build and run family businesses, Annie gained an appreciation for sacrifice, grit, and determination. These early lessons shaped the foundation of her life’s work, blending the values of service, leadership, and community advocacy to uplift the people of Louisiana.
Education, Career & Life’s Unexpected Turns
Driven by a pursuit of excellence from a young age, she attended the Academy of the Sacred Heart at Grand Coteau before earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. While at UL, she was actively involved in student government and received the Outstanding Graduate of the University, the highest honor awarded. She then pursued her doctorate in clinical psychology at Louisiana State University, gaining invaluable experience in urban and rural clinics and hospitals. After completing her postdoctoral internship with the Houston Independent School District, Annie returned home to Lafayette, eager to serve the community that raised her.
As a clinical psychologist, Annie built a thriving private practice, working closely with parents and local schools to ensure children received the support they needed. Her commitment to providing quality mental health care quickly led to a four-month waitlist for new patients. Through this work, she gained a firsthand understanding of the challenges families face—from accessing mental health services to navigating Louisiana’s broader education and healthcare systems.
In July 2013, Annie’s life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Determined to prioritize both her health, her family, and the well-being of her patients, she entrusted her practice to a trusted colleague. In January 2014, she was declared in remission, a victory that strengthened her resolve to give back even more. This chapter in her life led to her deepened involvement in philanthropy, advocacy, and community leadership.
In the years since, Annie has been a driving force in her husband's Lafayette-based biotechnology company, helping expand Tides Medical’s reach to all 50 states. At the same time, she has remained deeply committed to community service, serving on nonprofit boards and contributing her expertise through speaking engagements and consultation.
Community Leadership
A steadfast champion for Acadiana, Annie’s leadership and service extend to organizations such as the American Cancer Society, the Miles Perret Cancer Center, the Autism Society of Acadiana, the Acadiana Center for the Arts, the Children’s Museum of Acadiana, Hearts of Hope Center for Sexual Trauma, United Way of Acadiana, and many others. She has spearheaded fundraising initiatives, supported educational programs, and launched efforts to assist cancer survivors, always finding ways to make a meaningful impact.
As co-chair of the Tides Medical Foundation, Annie helps oversee grants that support patient access to care, youth development, and community collaboration.
Her contributions have been recognized with honors such as the Blue Cross Foundation’s Angel Award, the Boys and Girls Club of Acadiana’s Supporter of the Year Award, the Junior League of Lafayette’s Nedra Andrus Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Louisiana Youth Seminar’s No Man Is An Island Award.
Above all her accomplishments, Annie’s greatest joy comes from her family—her husband, Joe, and their two sons, Foster and Tagg. They are her inspiration, her strength, and the reason she remains focused on building a brighter future for Acadiana and Louisiana.
